Being one of the Dominican Republic\u2019s most consolidated tourist destinations, Punta Cana has simultaneously developed a top-class golf tourism offering. This is undoubtedly the destination par excellence<\/i> for tourists travelling to the Dominican Republic looking to practice their swing. A dozen golf courses can be found within the grounds of some of the area\u2019s most luxurious resorts, with a total of 189 different holes \u2013 39 offering a sea view and 20 located right on the coastline.<\/p>\n
Whether a golfing novice or a seasoned pro, the courses at Punta Cana are the best places to practice this outdoor sport. Some of the courses that are open to the public include Punta Espada Golf Club \u2013 found in the Cap Cana tourist resort \u2013 which was recently named as one of the best courses in the Caribbean and Mexico by the prestigious golf magazine, Golfweek.<\/p>\n

It must also be pointed out that at least seven of the Dominican Republic\u2019s golf courses have featured more than once in the list of the top 50 golf courses in the Caribbean and Mexico, drawn up by the same publication. But away from Punta Cana and other locations in the East of the country, many other golf courses can be enjoyed by visitors. Slightly more to the South, in the resort of La Romana, visitors will be able to choose from several top-class golf courses. Other regions where golf tourism is becoming increasingly popular include Santo Domingo and Juan Dolio; Puerto Plata and R\u00edo San Juan; and in the centre of the country, Santiago, Bonao and Jarabacoa.<\/p>\n
