It might not seem the most obvious of places to make a beeline for, but it is an institution and a good place from which to get your bearings. Just be careful of your valuables! From here, head north to the area of Eixample. In this area you\u2019ll find Antoni Guadi\u2019s renowned art nouveau buildings including the Casa Batll\u00f3, La Pedrera and, of course, the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia. Having been under construction since 1882, the Sagrada Familia is now, finally, nearing completion, and standing at 172 meters high in a flurry of spires, stained glass and ornate arches, it really must be seen to be believed!<\/p>\n Afternoon<\/b><\/p>\n For lunch, head to the narrow streets of Barceloneta. Built in a grid structure to accommodate the inhabitants of La Ribera who had lost their homes due to the construction of the citadel, Barceloneta is sandwiched between sandy beaches and the city\u2019s harbor. Due to its close proximity to the sea it is unsurprising that some of the best seafood can be found in this area. Take your pick from a wide selection of restaurants and bars offering al fresco dining in warmer months.<\/p>\n Next, wander down to the beach, one of our favorite places to visit in Barcelona. Barcelona boasts 4.5 kilometers of golden sandy beaches, which are great for sun and thrill seekers alike. Whether you\u2019re looking to relax with a book or get out on to the water, Barcelona\u2019s beaches offer plenty of options. You\u2019ll also find a great range of beach bars and cafes lining the sand, which come alive at night with music and drinks deals.<\/p>\n Evening<\/b><\/p>\n Boasting all the old town beauty of the neighboring Barri Gotic, but without the crowds, El Born is widely regarded as the hippest area of Barcelona. With designer boutiques open late and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets, El Born is a great place to spend the evening, although you could easily be entertained for a whole day there too. Forget the curfew and finish up with a night cap in one of El Born\u2019s trendy bars, many of which stay open until the early hours, or pull up a stool at one of the area\u2019s fantastic tapas bars for a midnight snack.
