The winter is a great time to visit the Canary Islands, the tourist crowds\u00a0have gone and the islands revert to a calm state. The pace slows, the\u00a0prices drop and most importantly, the sun still shines. Here\u2019s our guide\u00a0to getting some winter sun in the Canary Islands.<\/h4>\n

Canary Islands Weather in Winter<\/h3>\n

\nIf you\u2019re looking to get some winter sun, then the weather will be the\u00a0main thing you want to know. Generally, the weather in the Canary\u00a0Islands in winter will be mild and generally sunny; although there is\u00a0more chance of rain than during the summer months.<\/h4>\n

Although the islands may vary slightly in temperatures, in January, the\u00a0coldest month, you can expect the daily maximum temperatures\u00a0across all the main islands to be around 21C and the daily lows to be\u00a0around 15C.<\/h4>\n

Winter in Lanzarote, for example, is when you would expect to get the\u00a0most rain, but even then, it only averages 3 or 4 days per month. A\u00a0winter holiday in the Canary Islands is still likely to give you good\u00a0weather.<\/h4>\n

Things to do in Winter in the Canary Islands<\/h3>\n

Without the tourists, you can get closer to the real culture of the\u00a0Canary Islands and how the locals live. The restaurants are less busy so\u00a0you\u2019ll get more attentive service. The shops are quieter so the prices\u00a0will be lower. And if you do get a good beach day, you will have most of\u00a0it to yourself.<\/p>\n

\"Tenerife,<\/h4>\n

There will be more than enough to keep yourself entertained, regardless of the length of your stay in the Canary Islands. Many of the national parks such as Teide on Tenerife, Timanfaya on Lanzarote and Caldera de Taburiente on La Palma will still be open and available to explore.<\/h4>\n

Likewise, although the boat trips may have stopped, if you like fishing\u00a0then there will likely still be boat operators willing to take you out.\u00a0You\u2019ll also have the added bonus of having less people to share the\u00a0boat with.<\/h4>\n

\u00a0So there you have it, providing you\u2019re happy to make some\u00a0compromises, taking a holiday in the Canary Islands in winter can\u00a0open up a whole new world, and let you see the islands in a new light.<\/h4>\n
