With three sandy beaches, the resort has grown from a quiet fishing village to become a lively seaside spot. Take in the sights and smells of the strip, which runs along the shoreline, with a huge selection of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. Although dormant now, the volcanoes appear much the same as they did two centuries ago. Visit this alien landscape, and witness steam geysers caused by a chamber of magma that remains just 10m below ground.
