\"BB<\/a>Located on Mexico’s Caribbean coast, Playa del Carmen is ideal for sun worshippers. There is a large selection of pristine beaches and turquoise water. If you prefer more privacy, away from all the tourist hotspots, the beaches north of the Calle 38 are quieter than the others. However, Mamita’s Beach<\/strong> is one of the best and most recommended in the region and definitely worth a visit.<\/p>\n

The region is also ideally suited for divers and snorkelers who want to discover the beautiful underwater world of the Caribbean Sea<\/strong>. We recommend “Dive Mike” in the Calle 8 and “Scuba Playa” in Calle 10, both offering diving equipment and classes. You can book beginner courses, as well as special tours, such as swimming with whale sharks (from mid-May to mid-September) or diving through beautiful and mystical water caves. Depending on your experience and scuba certification both schools offer a variety of courses tailored to you.\"BB<\/a><\/p>\n

For those who like to keep two feet firmly on land there are many opportunities to explore the local culture in the small villages that cling to the coast. Take a taxi or bus along the coastal road to best experience the fishing villages, as well as the wonderful beaches.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget to visit the turtles! Around Playa del Carmen there are two beaches where you can enjoy this unforgettable experience – at the secluded beach of Paamul<\/strong>, 17 kilometres south of Playa del Carmen, and at Xcacel-Xcacelito<\/strong>. This beach is a protected area for turtles and their nests and therefore represents the most important spawning ground for turtles throughout Quintana Roo<\/strong>. Swim with them to experience their unique habitat first hand.
\nWe also recommend a day trip to Mexico’s third largest island, Cozumel<\/strong>. Apart from the wonderful diving opportunities along amazing reefs for which the island is best known, you can \"tortugas_marinas\"<\/a>also visit the Museo de la isla de Cozumel in San Miguel, explore the El Fri<\/strong>o, the oldest Mayan ruins on the island, or just go for a relaxing shopping trip.
\nA tip for all sailors: You can rent sailboats on the beautiful Playa Palancar, a beach located 17 kilometres from San Miguel.<\/p>\n

The Punta Bonita is the perfect place for all foodies looking for traditional Mexican cuisine. Enjoy local food whilst sipping margaritas and listening to the sounds of authentic mariachi music. The Sur Steakhouse is definitely recommended, as well as the touristy Fifth Avenue<\/strong>, which offers great restaurants and bars, or the Luxury Avenue<\/strong><\/a> mall.<\/p>\n
