Every unknown destination is always surrounded by an aura of mystery, not to know the ground we step on causes us a sensation impossible to match with anything. But sometimes that mystery goes further and become a legend, passing from generation to generation and making us to shake.<\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Na Coca’s dragon<\/strong><\/h4>\n

In the 17th century La Palma, everyone spoke of a greenish monster that they claimed was a dragon. Sightings of a huge green tail full of scales hiding in bushes and shadows were narrated. They said that this monster was the culprit in the disappearance of homeless people and children … fear flew over the streets and at night there were few who dared to leave their homes.<\/p>\n

Legend says that the fear disappeared one night when Captain Bartomeu Coch, who was part of a very wealthy family in the area and was also the Governor, went to visit his lover.<\/p>\n

\"Drac<\/p>\n

Riding a horse he reached her street and when he was about to get off he heard a noise. Without stopping to think, he brandished his sword at the creature, not realizing until later that it was not a monster but a five-foot crocodile.<\/p>\n

In Mallorca this type of African crocodile was unknown and probably after arriving as a baby on a boat it had grown to become a respectable animal, especially under the cover of night.<\/p>\n

The most curious thing about this story is that even today this embalmed specimen can be seen in the Diocesan Museum of Mallorca, being visited with admiration by young and old.\u00a0The ferocious dragon that terrorized the city never existed, but this African animal that still stars in multiple stories did.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The resurrection of Saint Clare<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another of the stories that roam the island takes place in the convent of Santa Clara and tells us nothing less than a return from the afterlife.\u00a0It happened that a lady of the high nobility had passed away and was going to be buried wearing a valuable ring on her hand.<\/p>\n

By nightfall all the guards who watched over her had fallen asleep due to exhaustion. All but one.<\/p>\n

So this guardian took the opportunity to approach the maiden and try to steal her ring.\u00a0As he could not remove it, it occurred to him to bite his fingers in an attempt to remove it. However, he did not get the ring but a huge scare. The woman, feeling the pain, got up from the lethargy in which she was causing everyone’s surprise.<\/p>\n

The attempted robbery had saved her from being buried alive.<\/p>\n

The feared guardian of the caves of Drach<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Drach caves are one of the five caves that are spread across Mallorca and the most visited thanks to its beauty and geological richness. It is a full picture of stalactites and stalagmites that is 117 meters long and 30 meters wide.\u00a0A natural treasure that we can admire going down to a depth of 25 meters and that has its own legend.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The locals narrate that in them is an incalculable treasure that has been persecuted for centuries by buccaneers and pirates but that no one has managed to take away.\u00a0The reason is the fierceness of the dragon that guards it which makes everyone who approaches flee.<\/p>\n
